Today was my first day back to the photo archive project! I focused on organizing the photos I moved from the “Pre 2020” folder to the “Artists Assets” folder. I did this by creating subfolders for the different groupings of photos. For example, I found a few Wizard of Oz photos and put them all together in their own subfolder. I started with nearly 550 miscellaneous photos, and after two hours, I got it down to about 200 photos. The process is tedious, but it’s also rewarding. I had to click each individual photo, make a new folder, title it, and then insert the selected photos into the new folder. I repeated this process several times, and as a result, created several new folders and organized A LOT of photos. I am so close to having all the photos from the “Pre 2020” folder organized, and I feel very proud of the work I have done. I have dedicated a lot of time to this project and am glad it will benefit the Tower Theatre!
The biggest challenge with this project has been the technology itself. The software updated some of its features since the last time I used it, so it took me a while to become familiar with the changes. The internet was also slow and caused the site to crash several times. It wasn’t difficult to reload the site, but after the fourth or fifth time, it got annoying. However, I persevered through my minor struggles and got a lot of work done!
The best part of all my Tower visits is working with the staff. I had the pleasure of seeing Dani Wyeth again! She hugged me and it made my day so much better. We mainly talked about “Stage the Change” and how awesome it’s going to be. Again, if you are a high schooler and are passionate about the performing arts, THIS IS THE EVENT FOR YOU! The deadline for student showcase submissions is tomorrow, April 3rd, and the deadline for registration is April 29th. The conference is going to have amazing keynote speakers and workshop leaders. Don’t miss it!
While I work on the photo project, I get to sit next to Lisa Vann. Even though she is incredibly busy, she always says hello and asks how I’m doing. It’s always nice to talk to her and see her in action at the Tower. Dani and Lisa are two examples of how the Tower’s staff contributes to the theatre’s welcoming community. I am so thankful that I get to work with them.
Thank you for tuning in to today’s post! Next week, I have a meeting with Ray Solley and will continue my work with the photo archive project. More posts coming soon!
